In the town of Beckum in North Rhine-Westphalia, the first residential building in Germany to be created using 3D printing was built in 2021. The pioneering construction was carried out using a printer head, which built up the masonry in three dimensions.

- Two solutions were used to waterproof the house. The first step was to seal the ground floor base. This was done from above. The base of the house was then waterproofed from the outside. This protects the substrate of the building from moisture on both sides.
