The iQ-Therm principle

Capillarity, heat insulation and humidity control in one system

iQ-Therm offers a unique combination of application security of proven capillary-active calcium silicate materials and the excellent heat insulation performance of organic foams. A pleasant room climate and safe protection against mould infestation is guaranteed in the full system thanks to a moisture-buffering absorption layer and the humidity control.

  • Excellent insulation properties (λ = 0.031 W/mK)
  • Highly capillary-active and therefore 100% protected against moisture and mould
  • Humidity control ensures a pleasant indoor climate
  • Reduces the heating costs clearly and permanently
  • Can be used in all buildings and living rooms without changing the appearance of the façade
  • Extremely low installation height, can be used simply and in parts
  • Positive ecological footprint tested by the Institute for Building and Environment

Interior insulation with a positive ecological footprint

iQ-Therm - Intelligence pays off

Real estate stands for financial stability. The value of this asset is increased by heat insulation measures. Also, the measures aimed at improving the thermal insulation represent direct energy-saving potential - heating costs are reduced. Investing in heat insulation measures is worthwhile! Especially if restoration is combined with upcoming renovation work.

If conversion, repair or modernisation work is due, the additional costs for internal wall insulation with iQ-Therm within the overall work is approx. 50% compared to conventional renovation work.

According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, energy prices rose by more than 40% between 2000 and 2010. Anyone who wants to save effectively should opt for professional insulation to reduce energy consumption.

The final report by the Federal Bureau of Statistics date November 2016 stated the following: “Compared to the base year 2010, private households have had to pay about a quarter more for energy last year and this year. The end consumer price has more than doubled since the turn of the millennium.”

A calculation example:

In the example below approx. 150 m² of the outer wall are insulated. Before the insulation was installed, approx. 12,000 KWh of heating energy is required to ‘compensate’ the transmission heat losses. iQ-Therm reduces the heat energy requirements by 77.7 %, i.e. only approx. 2,500 KWh natural gas is required after completion of the restoration work. Lowering the U-values of the external wall from 1.173 W/(m²K) to 0.261 W/(m²K) makes this possible.

And also, the specifications of the currently valid EnEV are satisfied*.

The inside insulation installed in this case led to savings of € 750 within the first year alone. Inside insulation is worthwhile especially if restoration is combined with upcoming renovation work. If conversion, repair or modernisation work is due, the additional costs for internal wall insulation with iQ-Therm within the overall work is only approx. 60% compared to conventional renovation work.

* Calculated with the iQ-Lator, wall structure: Red bricks 30 cm, lime cement render 1.5 cm, iQ-Therm 80-System, a natural gas price of 0.59 € /m³ and a heating system utilisation level of 0,8.

Other advantages of iQ-Therm

Recycling & health

iQ-Therm does not release any harmful or allergenic substances. The insulation boards are extremely low-emission and do not provide any nutrition for mould and bacteria. The material can be recycled, odour-neutral and physiologically safe. Resources and the environment are conserved - iQ-Therm is biologically safe for human and animal buildings.

The wall surface temperatures of parts within a room have a significant impact on the perceived level of comfort. Inside room temperatures are perceived as particularly pleasant if these are below 20°C. The air is moved less in low temperature ranges and has a lower allergy risk potential.

If the wall-surface temperatures increase within a room as a result of the energetic sustainable restoration, the room temperature can be reduced as a result - without compromising on the sense of well-being and reducing the risk of allergy.
