Cost Effective Remmers RoofingShort Story:The existing built up felt and chippings roof waterproofing on the Sericol Engineering factory in Broadstairs, Kent was reaching the end of its service life. Some leaks had already started to occur. A fast and cost effective solution was required and it was provided using Remmers’ Solutan PU liquid applied roof waterproofing membrane. This quickly cures to a ‘rubber-like’ skin ensuring a continuous waterproof membrane over the existing roof build up. The existing built up felt and chippings, roof waterproofing system on the Sericol Engineering factory in Broadstairs, Kent was reaching the end of its service life. Some leaks and damages had already started to occur, and these could have become detrimental to Sericol’s quality orientated production control of their electrical components.
A fast, efficient and cost effective solution was therefore urgently required and it was provided by their contractor D P Site Services Limited, using Remmers’ Solutan PU – an advanced liquid applied, polyurethane, roof waterproofing membrane system. This consisted of a sealing primer followed by 2 coats of Solutan PU, single component, highly elastic, polyurethane resin based, liquid membrane; in an aluminium colour shade. This quickly cures to a ‘rubber-like’ skin ensuring a continuous waterproof membrane over the existing roof build up. Without major disruption and at minimal cost, the Remmers Solutan System, has provided a waterproof roof without leaks, which will require only minimal maintenance, and will considerably extend the service life of the Sericol building by up to 10 years.
