‘STEALTH’ Slip Resistance from RemmersShort Story:“Stealth” is the new £12m ride opening at Tussauds’ Thorpe Park. It will be Europe’s tallest roller coaster at 205 feet, and the fastest, reaching 80mph in just two and a half seconds! The ride station platform, the access stairs and the maintenance ramps, have all been given a flexible slip resistant surface using Remmers flexible epoxy resin. The resin was flow applied incorporating Remmers’ Ceramix® graded and coloured aggregates, directly onto the prepared steel surfaces, to provide the desired degree of slip resistance. Full Story:
“Stealth” is the latest state of the art, ‘mind blowing’ 80mph Rocket Coaster ride opening in March 2006 at Tussauds’ Thorpe Park in Surrey.
This £12m ride will be Europe’s tallest at 205 feet, and its fastest, reaching 80mph in just two and a half seconds! For additional passenger and staff security and safety the ride station platform, the access stairs and the maintenance ramps have all been given a flexible slip resistant surface finish. This was achieved using Remmers’ Flexfill System which is based on a flexible epoxy resin binder that can accommodate movement in steel structures or on concrete mezzanine floors for example. The resin was flow applied incorporating Remmers Ceramix® graded and coloured aggregates, directly onto the prepared steel surfaces. The advanced fast curing resin system was applied on the ride by specialist contractors Churchman-Fenner and Brown Limited. They have also carried out several other specialist resin applications with Remmers systems during the last 10 years for the Tussauds group in their centres at Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures, and Alton Towers.
