‘BLUE SKY’ Floors from Remmers

As part of their ‘Blue Sky Plan’ to improve the working environment and increase productivity, Getrag Ford have used Remmers Industrial Flooring Systems extensively.
4M Flooring UK Limited were contracted to refurbish the main routes through the plant with Remmers flooring. These floors were worn, damaged and contaminated with oils - and the works all had to be undertaken and completed without disruption to production.
Remmers and 4M devised a ‘bespoke system’ and procedure that could complete the works to Getrag Ford’s high standards - and in only three weekends.

As part of their ‘Blue Sky Plan’ to improve the working environment and increase productivity, Getrag Ford have used Remmers Industrial Flooring Systems extensively.
The Getrag Ford Plant at Halewood now produces 400,000 transmission units a year feeding the Ford assembly plants at Southampton, Germany, France, Spain, and Turkey.
Following installation of their new product lines (also with Remmers floors), Getrag Ford contracted 4M Flooring UK Limited, to refurbish the main supply and delivery routes through the plant with Remmers flooring. These old concrete floors were worn, damaged and contaminated with cutting oils - and the works all had to be undertaken and completed without disruption to production.
So Remmers and 4M devised a ‘bespoke system’ and procedure that could complete the preparation and application of the 3,000 square metres required - and in only three weekends.
The works could only commence at the end of production on Friday evenings and they had to be finished by Sunday evenings, ready for operational use again on Monday mornings.
Damaged and contaminated existing concrete was broken out, or prepared by a combination of scabbling, captive shot blasting and grinding; then the fast curing Remmers system was applied.
This consisted of the sealing and priming coat, followed by the pumped cementitious levelling screed, and then the broadcast resin wearing surface. The following weekend Remmers’ line coatings were applied to provide area demarcation and for traffic safety.
The resultant floors provide a light coloured, slip and chemically resistant, durable surface to support the continuing development of Getrag Ford’s advanced production philosophy.
