More London
The More London project is giving prominent areas of London a more modern, fresher feel. Extensive refurbishment works have created stylish piazzas and pathways for visitors and workers alike to enjoy.
Where derelict wharf buildings once stood, limestone paviours were laid in nautical deck style along the Thames-side promenade by Tower Bridge, complementing the surrounding buildings and architecture. Lime and cement deposits on the finished area needed to be removed to complete the project. Alkutex® Combi WR was selected for its less aggressive, more environmentally friendly qualities when removing lime and mortar laitance, bearing in mind the proximity to the River Thames. The surface was first thoroughly pre-wetted to prevent deep penetration into the limestone. Alkutex® Combi WR was applied by low pressure spray and, after reaction time, washed off with a high pressure water jet. Remmer’s Rotec Whirl Jet Cleaning System is ideal in this situation.
