E-ON Call Centre Repaired with Noise on Hold
Energy company E-on’s 24 hour call centre building has a red brick façade that also features contrasting precast white concrete units.
Unfortunately the concrete surfaces had carbonated to the depth of the steel, allowing it to corrode with a danger of spalling concrete falling from the structure. As the Call Centre works 24/7, avoiding any potential disruption due to noise, was also a major concern. The answer was a combination of Gunite Eastern’s silent hydro demolition and Remmers systems with mortars that can be feather edged and a migratory corrosion inhibitor, both of which reduce the extent of concrete break out required. Finally all of the concrete surfaces were protected with Remmers Elastoflex, a crack bridging, anti-carbonation, waterproofing coating.
