Hardwearing Floors in Hamburg, Berlin and Singapore

High quality floor coatings have passed the test in the most different venues

Whether the new Terminal C at the airport in Berlin-Schönefeld, the Color Line Arena in Hamburg or a new parking garage for a terminal at the Singapore Airport, all of these objects have one thing in common: Floor coatings on an epoxy resin base with properties that have been specially coordinated to the specific requirements.

When it comes to aviation, Terminal C in Berlin-Schönefeld is one of Europe's most unique show and event locations. Up to 500 participants can meet or celebrate here at the same time. The building is awesome. Constructed in the form of a wing, the building is completely round or ellipse in shape.

Strong colour contrasts on walls and floors, executed with water vapour diffusion-open coating systems made by Remmers Baustofftechnik, enhance the concept of the design. These surfaces not only had to provide possibilities for decoration, they also had to be hard wearing and easy to clean.

The requirements and prerequisites in Hamburg were entirely different. The Color Line Arena, a centre for entertainment by super stars of the pop and rock scene, an ice hockey arena for the home team of the Hamburg Freezers and a location where large operas and musicals are performed also needed an especially high quality floor coating for its core interior space.

Under permafrost conditions of -160°C for eight months of the year and in between the venue for handball games or a pop concert, the requirements on the floor were high. Here as well, planners decided on water vapour diffusion-open systems made by Remmers Baustofftechnik. In this case, a pure white was applied which very effectively accentuates the ice above.

Terminal 3 at the Singapore Airport is where the new super jet of the skies, the Airbus A380, docks. The parking garage that belongs to this terminal needed a floor coating system coordinated to requirements on more than 70.000 m². A slip-retarding epoxy coating made by Remmers convinced the planners of the new terminal as well. The coating protects the underlying concrete from salts that cause damage and provides an extremely wear resistant surface.

The new floor coatings on an epoxy resin base can be individually coordinated to the requirements and loads of the most different venues and offer planners and operators many advantages compared to conventional floors.
